I’ve been editing podcasts, making home movies, and running my own fake radio shows since long before anyone actually paid me to do it. That part never really stopped, it just eventually turned into a job.

After I graduated from the University of San Francisco, I landed my first real gig at a small conference organizing company in downtown San Diego. I ran on-site operations, handled the audio/visual side of things, managed digital media, built out webinars, and figured out how to turn one piece of content into five different things. I even helped stand up an online university while I was there. Five years of that.

Then I did the thing people tell you not to do. I walked away from a stable job to go chase radio. That was ten years ago. I won’t pretend it wasn’t risky, because it was, but it’s paid off more than I could have guessed at the time. I’ve spent the last decade producing and hosting shows on San Diego radio, and right now that means 97.3 The Fan, the Padres’ home station, which is about as good a spot as I could’ve asked for.

One more thing, since people ask. I use AI to help me write some of what ends up on this site. Pulling stats together, tightening a draft, getting a post out the same night instead of three days later. What it doesn’t do is think for me. Every opinion on this site, every take, every stance I’ve ever posted here, is mine. All of it. AI helps me say it faster. It doesn’t tell me what to say.
